We’re busy, busy at Gorilla Spirits!

Hello friends, one and all!  We are very conscious that we’ve not been too good at keeping you informed about our progress so I thought I’d post a short update to let you know what’s going on at Gorilla Spirits HQ.

Gorilla Spirits Company | Silverback Gin | British Artisan GinAs you can imagine, we’ve been working our socks off (we have no socks left!). On the distillery front I’ve previously mentioned that we’ve had some challenges to overcome and here are some of the things we’ve been up to….

  • We’ve built an extension to the property (didn’t see that coming) to house our auxiliary equipment (process heater, cooling tanks, compressor, pumps and that kind of thing) and we’ve built a pressurised control room where we will locate all of our, well, control equipment!  That includes the still controller as well as all our switchgear.
  • We’ve installed around 2 kilometers of steel armoured cabling, specialist (explosion proof) lighting, an exrtaction and ventilation system and a host of other things.
  • We’ve modified our still ‘Mugs’ already to equip her with a much gentler heating system (to give you the very best spirit) and we threw away the original controller in favour of a super smooth digital touch screen controller to give us the most precise control possible. Both the heating system and controller we’ve had to design from scratch and it goes without saying that it’s all been specially built.

On the label front we kind of went back to the drawing board after initial prototypes as we really weren’t happy with what we had.  The label has now been completely overhauled and we can’t wait to show it off!  We’ve also got a nice surprise in store on the bottle front.  Chris, our fantastic designer, has gone to town with merchandise and produced some really cool printed tee shirts and embroidered polos.  We also know that no drink is complete without a glass, so to truly enhance your Silverback experience we’ve designed some beautiful, etched glasses which are guaranteed to keep your G&T fizzing!

So, we are very sorry that we are behind schedule but trust us when we say that it’ll be worth the wait.  We’re working through our decreasing list of things to do and hope to have Silverback Mountain Strength Gin with you early in the Autumn – we’ll keep you posted.  In the meantime, thanks for all your support and encouragement!

Best Wishes,

Team Gorilla
